UK Wellness Retreat News: June 2026

A busy fortnight for the UK spa and retreat world: a giant thermal resort operator wants to be within reach of most of the country, the company behind Hoar Cross Hall has a new name and two new properties, and there are fresh treatment options in London and a thoughtful new launch in Scotland. Here is what happened and what it means if you are planning a retreat.

Therme plans five UK thermal resorts

Therme Group, the operator behind huge thermal bath complexes in Germany and Bucharest, says it wants five new UK resorts so that 90 per cent of the population lives within a 90 minute drive of one. Glasgow is lined up, with Cardiff, Bristol, London and Birmingham under consideration, alongside the £500m Therme Manchester already in the works with 25 pools, 30 saunas and an expected entry price of around £48 for a four to five hour visit. For anyone who finds destination spa prices steep, this points to a much cheaper thermal day option arriving over the next few years; our wellness retreat cost calculator shows how far that undercuts a typical overnight break. Hoar Cross Hall’s owner rebrands as Hiddenwell and adds two properties

Barons Eden, the group behind Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire and the Eden Hall day spa in Nottinghamshire, has rebranded as Hiddenwell and is adding Ardencote Manor in Warwickshire and Orsett Hall in Essex to the collection. The group says it is investing in existing properties as well as expanding, with treatments built around Elemis, Voya and Grown Alchemist. If you have been weighing up Hoar Cross Hall against the other big destination spas in our ranked guide to the best UK wellness retreats, nothing changes for existing bookings, but two more spa hotels under the same management are worth watching. Park Hyatt London River Thames adds Omorovicza facials

The Spa at Park Hyatt London River Thames, a 1,533 sq m facility with six treatment rooms and a 20 metre pool, has partnered with Hungarian skincare brand Omorovicza. The new menu includes an Acid Glow Facial, a bespoke Signature Facial, a Moor Mud Deep Cleansing Facial and an Omorovicza HydraFacial, all paired with traditional Hungarian massage techniques. For a spa day close to the capital it is a serious new option to weigh against the venues in our guide to wellness retreats near London. Coverage at European Spa Magazine.

Tea & Therapy wellbeing events launch in Scotland

The Made for Life Foundation has brought its Tea & Therapy programme to Scotland, holding its first event at Manor House Therapies in Edinburgh, part of St Columba’s Hospice Care. The half day sessions are designed for women living with or beyond cancer and combine therapeutic touch, mindful facial therapy and practical sessions on bone health, cardiovascular fitness and the gut microbiome. Organisers plan at least four Scottish events a year, a useful route into gentle, supported wellness for anyone for whom a standard retreat feels like too much. Report at European Spa Magazine.
