Anyone comparing Center Parcs spa breaks quickly notices the same number everywhere: 25 experiences. It appears on the package pages, in the reviews and in the brochure copy, always as “up to 25”. That phrase is doing more work than most people notice, because the five Aqua Sana Forest Spas are not the same size, and the gap between the largest and the smallest is not marginal.

We counted them from Aqua Sana’s own per-location pages. Four of the five spas offer 24 or 25 experiences. One offers 14. If you book on the strength of the headline number, and the spa you book is the one with 14, you have bought something meaningfully smaller than the thing being advertised.

The room count, spa by spa

Every Aqua Sana location publishes its own experience page with its own count in the opening line. Here is what those pages say.

Spa Village Experiences Zones
Sherwood Forest Nottinghamshire 25 six, around an open-air courtyard pool
Elveden Forest Suffolk 25 not stated
Woburn Forest Bedfordshire 25 not stated
Longleat Forest Wiltshire 24 five
Whinfell Forest Cumbria 14 not stated

The marketing phrase used across the brand is "up to 25 experiences". "Up to 25 experiences" is doing a lot of work Counts taken from each spa's own experience page on aquasana.co.uk, August 2026. The awkward part is where Whinfell sits in the product range. Aqua Sana’s overnight Forest Spa Break Apartments are offered at Sherwood Forest, Longleat Forest and Whinfell Forest, and that package is sold with the line “two full days in the Aqua Sana Forest Spa, with up to 25 nature-inspired experiences to explore at your own pace”. At Whinfell there are 14. The wording is accurate across the estate and misleading about the individual booking, which is exactly the kind of thing worth knowing before you drive to Cumbria.

None of this makes Whinfell a bad spa. It is the smallest and the quietest, in the best landscape of the five, and for some people that is the point. It is simply not the same purchase.

What is actually different between them

Beyond the count, each spa has experiences that exist nowhere else in the group, and these are the reason to choose one over another rather than the raw number.

Sherwood Forest is built around an open-air courtyard pool, with 25 experiences across six zones. Its signature is the Treetop Sauna, which Aqua Sana describes as offering “panoramic views over the legendary Sherwood Forest below”. It also has the Lava Sauna, the Alpine Steam Room and an Ice Cave.

Elveden Forest has The Nest, a sauna the spa states is “exclusive to Elveden Forest”, where you recline on a body-contoured lounger. Elveden also has the Forest Glade steam room with tree-stump seating, the Nordic Sauna with a floor-to-ceiling forest window, and the Japanese-inspired Sole Therapy foot bath.

Woburn Forest leans hardest on the invented-environment idea, with the Forest Rain Walk, the Mineral Room, a Stone Sauna designed so you can stay longer, and Blossom Heat, one of the milder heat rooms with contoured loungers.

Longleat Forest runs 24 experiences across five zones, including the Nordic Sauna with the forest window and the Lava Volcano Sauna.

Whinfell Forest concentrates on the classics: Salt Steam built around an illuminated rose quartz, Botanical Steam, Blossom Steam, Aromatherapy Steam and a traditional Cedar Sauna.

If you have a strong preference for cold exposure, note that the Ice Cave appears at Sherwood, Woburn and Longleat in the listings we read, and it is flagged as pregnancy-friendly at those sites.

What a spa day actually includes, and when it runs

This is the second thing that surprises people, because Aqua Sana sells timed sessions rather than open-ended access.

The standard Forest Spa Day runs at one of three fixed windows: 9am to 4.30pm, 9.30am to 5pm, or 12pm to 7.30pm. Included in the price are access to the spa experiences, lunch in the Vitalé Café Bar, complimentary robe and towel hire, and the free Spa Wellbeing Sessions. Your dining slot is arranged with the spa reception team when you check in rather than at booking.

The Spa Wellbeing Sessions are worth planning around and almost nobody does. They are free, staff-led and run several times a day, and they include a Spa Discovery Session with skincare experts, available at all locations. If you are paying for a full day, two of these turn a long soak into something structured.

There is also a lighter Simply Spa Day, running a shorter 10am to 3pm window with a Mediterranean mezze rather than lunch. At the time of writing it is a limited summer product for Monday to Friday arrivals between 19 June and 27 August 2026, so it is on its last few days for this year. Its listing gives the age minimum as 14 and over, which is worth flagging because the commonly repeated line is that Aqua Sana is strictly 16 and over. Age limits are set per package on the individual product page, not by one spa-wide rule, so read the package you are buying rather than a forum post about a different one.

Overnight guests get a different shape again. The Forest Spa Apartments at Sherwood, Longleat and Whinfell include two full days in the spa plus light breakfast and lunch. The Luxury Forest Spa Suites, available only at Woburn Forest and Elveden Forest, come with direct spa access, a bath with forest views, a private balcony, a concierge and a 50-minute VOYA massage. Prices move with demand under Aqua Sana’s flexible pricing, so check the current price on the day you want rather than working from anyone’s quoted figure, including ours.

Who should book which

You want the biggest spa and do not mind it being busy. Sherwood, Elveden or Woburn. All three carry the full 25.

You want the outdoor pool as the centrepiece. Sherwood, where the courtyard pool is what the six zones are arranged around.

You want one distinctive thing to remember. Elveden for The Nest, Sherwood for the Treetop Sauna.

You want quiet and scenery over inventory. Whinfell, with clear eyes about the 14.

You want the best room rather than the best spa. Woburn or Elveden, the only two with the Luxury Forest Spa Suites and direct spa access.

If you are in the south east, Woburn is also the most reachable and worth comparing against the Windsor and St Albans day spas. Suffolk visitors should weigh Elveden against the rest of the Suffolk options, and anyone considering Whinfell should look at what else is available across the north east before committing to the drive.

Practical points before you book

Read the health advice properly. Aqua Sana lists conditions that warrant a word with your doctor first, including surgery within the last six months, a previous DVT, heart or circulatory problems, high or low blood pressure, migraines, dizziness or fainting, diabetes, epilepsy, asthma or any chest condition aggravated by high temperatures, and any condition affecting your ability to react to heat or to perspire. It also lists prescribed antihistamines, anticoagulants, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants and tranquillisers.

Pregnancy is handled by exception, not by exclusion. Many of the experiences and treatments are unsuitable, the pregnancy treatment is available after the first 12 weeks, and each location publishes its own list of pregnancy-safe experiences. Our pregnancy spa day guide covers what to ask anywhere.

Robe and towel are included. You do not need to bring them, which changes what you pack. What to wear on a spa day covers the rest.

Book the treatment separately in your head. The spa day is the base product; treatments and dining upgrades sit on top and sell out faster than the sessions do.

For alternatives at a similar level, the best spa hotels in England and overnight spa breaks in the UK are the natural comparisons, and last minute spa breaks is the page to read if your dates are flexible.

Frequently asked questions

How many spa experiences does each Center Parcs Aqua Sana have? Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest and Woburn Forest each list 25. Longleat Forest lists 24 across five zones. Whinfell Forest lists 14. The brand phrase “up to 25” applies across the estate rather than to any individual spa, so check the location page for the village you are booking.

Can you use the Aqua Sana spa without staying at Center Parcs? Yes. Aqua Sana sells day and evening packages to non-residents, on fixed session times rather than open access. The Forest Spa Day runs 9am to 4.30pm, 9.30am to 5pm or 12pm to 7.30pm.

What is included in a Center Parcs spa day? Access to the spa experiences, lunch in the Vitalé Café Bar, complimentary robe and towel hire, and the free staff-led Spa Wellbeing Sessions. Treatments and dining upgrades are extra. Your dining reservation is arranged at check-in rather than at booking.

What is the age limit at Aqua Sana? It depends on the package rather than on a single spa-wide rule. The Simply Spa Day is listed as 14 and over, while other packages set their own minimum, so read the age line on the specific product page before booking for a teenager.

Which Center Parcs has the best spa? Sherwood Forest if you want the largest with an outdoor courtyard pool, Elveden if you want The Nest, and Woburn or Elveden if you want a Luxury Forest Spa Suite with direct spa access. Whinfell is the smallest by a wide margin.

Are Center Parcs spa breaks worth it? They work well if you use the spa for two full days, which is what the overnight packages are built around, and less well if you treat the spa as a side activity on a family break. The single biggest variable is which village you book, because the spa you get ranges from 14 experiences to 25.

Can you go to the Aqua Sana while pregnant? Partly. Many experiences and treatments are unsuitable, there is a treatment designed for after the first 12 weeks, and each location publishes a pregnancy-safe experiences list. Speak to the spa at the time of booking rather than on arrival.
